 Norma Churchill, Soprano was born and raised Edmonton. After completing her B.Mus. at the University of Toronto she went on to England to continue her studies with Vera Rozsa and Paul Hamburger of the Guildhall School of Music.

 In addition, Norma completed courses at the Britten-Pears School of Music with Suzanne Danco and Hugues Cuenod, at the Beethoven Musikschule in Vienna with Sigrun Quentes.

 Her beautiful and expressive voice has been heard in performances with the Edmonton Opera Company, the Canadian Opera Company, Opera in Concert, the Toronto Operetta Theatre, and the Toronto Choral Society and abroad with orchestras in England and in Poland.

 She has also had the pleasure of premiering a number of Maria Case’s compositions in Toronto. Norma currently maintains a busy teaching schedule at the Kingsway Conservatory, St. Michael’s Choir School and her private studio, Cantare Studio.

 In addition, she has coached as a guest artist in arts schools in the TDSB, conducts masterclasses and musical theatre courses, adjudicates festivals and has been a member of the RCM College of Examiners since 2008.

PIANO ADJUDICATOR

DAVID STONE

 David Stone is an award-winning teacher, composer, conductor, and adjudicator. He has been studying and performing double bass and piano for over 40 years. His bass teachers Ed Tait, Joel Quarrington, Tim Dawson, Harvey and Bonnie Silver among many others. In addition to his formal classical studies, David is an accomplished jazz performer and arranger. He has studied with many of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, including Oliver Jones, Alex Dean, Pat LaBarbera, Pat Collins, and many more. He is also an active Musical Theatre performer, arranger, and musical director.

 David has been composing for classical ensembles, musical theatre, and various forms of digital media for many years. Receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto, he studied composition and orchestration with Christos Hatzis, Chan Ka Nin, and the late John Hawkins. Artists who have commissioned and performed his works include the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Gryphon Trio, the Penthelia Singers, and the Capitol Theatre. They have been broadcast on CBC radio, and have been premiered in Canada, the United Stated and Europe. In addition, his works for television and multimedia have been heard across North America.

 As a teacher, David has been privileged to guide and inspire students for over 25 years. He is a vibrant, enthusiastic motivator for students of all ages. His belief of “Making Music Make Sense” was the founding principle for Toronto Music Alliance. He lives in Toronto with his wife, two sons, and bunny rabbits.

Kelsey Patry

 Born and raised in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Kelsey began her dance journey at the age of three at DanceWorks, where she now continues to share her passion as an instructor and assistant studio director. In her teenage years, Kelsey began teaching while also training and competing under the dedicated guidance of DanceWorks’ studio owner and director, Christine Brunet.

  While pursuing her dance career, Kelsey earned numerous awards and gained valuable knowledge and experience. Her dedication led to an invitation to The View Dance Challenge’s Greece Intensive, a prestigious event, where she participated in advanced training and performance opportunities.

 After graduating, she continued to develop her coaching skills at Elite DanceWorks in Barrie, where she balanced her growing career as a dance educator with her post-secondary studies in business. Kelsey continues to expand her expertise through ongoing professional development with CDTA examinations, Acrobatic Arts training, and the iTap online program. Throughout her dance career, Kelsey has had the privilege of working with teacher/choreographers Shanna Cipressi and Mathew Carusso, who have made a lasting impact on the way she choreographs today.

 Kelsey’s passion for choreographing has landed her multiple judge’s choice awards, including, most recently, the “Overall Competitive Choreography Award” at Karv Dance Challenge. With nearly 20 years of experience in the dance world, Kelsey has developed a strong technical foundation in both performance and pedagogy.

 Her well-rounded background allows her to teach a diverse range of styles, including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-hop, and Acro. With such versatility, Kelsey can connect with dancers of all interests and abilities, all while helping them grow into strong, adaptable performers. Beyond the studio, Kelsey also manages multiple social media platforms, bringing creativity and professionalism to every aspect of her work.  Rhonda Roberts is an accomplished performer, instructor and adjudicator of dance who has appeared in productions across North America and Europe.

 She was awarded a full scholarship and later the triple threat award from the acclaimed Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto.

 Rhonda has performed in several stage productions. Most notably she was an original Toronto company member of Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast, at the Princess of Whales Theatre. Toured with the U.S. National company of the Tony® Award-winning musical Ragtime, played the role of Shenzi in the Tony Award-winning show Disney’s The Lion King at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre. She was blessed to be in Guys and Dolls and Anything Goes at the prestigious Stratford Festival.

 On screen Ms. Roberts has appeared in the #1 Amazon Prime hit, The Boys, the Academy Award®-winning film Chicago, the New Line Cinema release Hairspray The Movie, along with a list of other film and recurring TV roles.

 She has been teaching for more than 35 years and adjudicating for over 20 years. Her résumé includes several years of teaching at University of Toronto, and recurring posts at McMaster University, York University, O.I.P, Steps Performing Arts Centre in Hamilton, National Dance Theatre and Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto. She has been an adjudicator for Terpsichore Dance Celebration, American Dance Awards, Onstage Dance Competition, Kiwanis Festival, Rising Star at the CNE and The World Dance Championships in Orlando, Florida, to name only a few.

 She currently has recurring choreography engagements at Etobicoke School of the Arts and has been guest instructing at Mayfield Secondary school and Canada’s National Ballet School. In 2012, Rhonda opened her own studio called The Art of Balance (TAB). Here she is combining the worlds of dance, fitness and other mind–body practices to promote a sense of homeostasis in the body.

 In 2016 Rhonda was named one of CanFitPro’s Top 3 Fitness Professionals.

 Ms. Roberts is also a member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance, she is a certified member with Acro Dance Adjudicator. Rhonda was a board member of Healthy Dancer Canada and was the chair of the BIPOC Advocacy working group since its inception in 2020. The committee proudly created a scholarship program for BIPOC emerging artists.

 Rhonda is a certified personal trainer. She holds a degree in Sociology from McMaster University and a music theatre diploma from Randolph College for the Performing Arts.

 Marcel Tremel is a highly respected dance educator, choreographer, and adjudicator based in the Vancouver area. With extensive training and certifications, he is a fully accredited dance teacher with the ADAPT Syllabus (Jazz, Tap), Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (Jazz, Tap, Acro), Acrobatic Arts, Progressing Ballet Technique, and Alixa Flexibility. Marcel is also a graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA), where he completed the full three-year program, earning a Diploma in Applied Performing Arts. As a recognized adjudicator, he holds certification with ADA Adjudicator (ADTA) and is a proud member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance.

 Marcel’s career has taken him across North America and beyond, allowing him to showcase his talents both on stage and behind the scenes. Performance and choreography highlights include: touring Western Canada and the United States with the song and dance group Saskatchewan Express, co-choreographing Young Frankenstein at CCPA, starring in Lend Me a Tenor, choreographing Hello, Dolly! with Fraser Valley Stage, setting and performing choreography in The Nutcracker for The Sunshine Coast Youth Dance Association, and dancing in England at the Gilbert and Sullivan International Festival in The Gondoliers.
