Welcome to Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts
The Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts would like to congratulate all the following performers who were recommended and attended the Ontario Festival of Music and the Arts 2009 Provincial Finals: Vanessa Copetti (Intermediate Musical Theatre), Jessie Kajorinne (Junior Musical Theatre), Heather Kimball (Grade 9 Piano), Ariana Kitching (Junior Musical Theatre), Olivia Korkola (Grade 7 Violin), Jacqueline Larizza (Grade 9 Violin), Gregory Lewis (Grade 8 Piano & Grade 9 Violin), Katelyn Lewis (Grade 8 Piano), Maria Marchese (Grade 10 Piano), Graydon McNally (Grade 8 Violin), Irinia Medvedeva (Advanced Musical Theatre), Rachael Sebesta (Grade 7 Voice), Justin Stolz (Open Voice), Joshua Wentzell (Grade 7 Violin), Jordan Wyllie (Intermediate Musical Theatre), and Martin Zhang (Grade 10 Piano). A special congratulations to Gregory Lewis and Irina Medvedeva for receiving honourable mentions.
Congratulations to the following who participated in the Ontario Music Festival recorded competition: Woodcrest School Choir, St. Martin School Choir, Hammarskjold High School Choir, and the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra who received a 2nd place.
Also recommended but unable to attend and participate in Provincials this year were: Jonathan Boo (Piano), Jamie-Lynn Gustafson (Grade 8 Voice), Tiana Asperjan (Senior Musical Theatre), Shayne Stolz (Senior Musical Theatre), Isaac Matthews (Advanced Musical Theatre), and Lakehead University Choir.

A volunteer-based organization, the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts (LFMA) organizes an annual event for young people wishing to demonstrate their progress in their respective fields. We are grateful to our business and individual patrons and subscribers.
Piano, Strings, Guitar, Brass, Woodwinds, Band, Choral, Voice, Ensembles, Dance and Speech Arts are the major categories in which children participate. For more information regarding the fields listed, please visit our syllabus page. A Percussion class is now available.

Dawn Sebesta is the current Festival Coordinator responsible for yearly planning and activities. She is supported by a variety of liason individuals who bring a wealth of expertise to the arts. The 2010 Festival season dates are as follows: Instrumental - March 24 - April 31, 2010; Dance - April 6-10, 2010. Registration deadline for instrumental entries is January 9, 2010 and for dance entries is January 23, 2010. The entry forms are available for download as well as the current syllabus updates.
The Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts Executive is looking foward to a very exciting year with some amazing adjudicators. Information regarding the 2010 Adjudicators will be available in the Fall.
