The Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts Executive would like to congratulate the 2008 Ontario Music Festival Provincial Competitors: Junior Music Theatre: Sandy Hoshizaki & Marielle Henderson; Intermediate Music Theatre: Shayne Stolz; Senior Music Theatre: Nicole Jones & Sam DiGiuseppe; Advanced Music Theatre: Dina Thompson; Strings-Grade 7 - Graydon McNally; Strings-Grade 8: Jacqueline Larizza & Gregory Lewis; and Guitar - Open: Simon Baxter. Honourable Mentions were awarded to Simon Baxter, Sam DiGiuseppe and Gregory Lewis. We are proud of our Ontario Music Festival Provincial Competitors.
A volunteer-based organization, the Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts (LFMA) organizes an annual event for young people wishing to demonstrate their progress in their respective fields. We are grateful to our business and individual patrons and subscribers.
Piano, Strings, Guitar, Brass, Woodwinds, Band, Choral, Voice, Ensembles, Dance and Speech Arts are the major categories in which children participate. For more information regarding the fields listed, please visit our syllabus page.
Dawn Sebesta is the current Festival Coordinator responsible for yearly planning and activities. She is supported by a variety of liason individuals who bring a wealth of expertise to the arts. The 2009 Festival season dates are as follows: Instrumental - March 27 - April 3, 2009; Dance- April 4-8, 2009. Registration deadline for instrumental entries is January 10, 2009 and for dance entries is January 24, 2009. The entry forms will be available for download by Sept. 30th, 2008 as well as the current syllabus updates.
